Saving the Back Porch

Updated: Mar 18, 2018

Could it be saved? It was sinking and falling in.....Eric can do anything!

iWhat started out as a "quick fix" turned into an overhaul....Eric was quickly finding out that nothing was going to quick and easy when dealing with the old farmhouse. #farmhouseremodel #budgetremodel Can you believe they used stakes to nail a 2X4 together??A little dry rot and some foundation problems. The old windows had to be re-framedWho would have thought the reason the wall was leaning so bad was because the windows were sitting on the unsupported front half of the 2x6? the roof was being supported (not) by that same board. So we took out all the windows and reframed and kind of rebuilt the wall. We are on a budget here, so we re-use as much as we can. Looking better and way more level and stable. Before we were done the roof had to be replaced. That happened the day before the first snowfall. Whew! Overall it turned out great! The porch has been saved.
